Description
About Advance Maryland
Our vision is a Maryland with thriving, healthy, and inclusive communities where all Marylanders have access to opportunity — including safe and affordable housing, economic prosperity, quality healthcare, reliable transportation, a restorative justice system, and a livable future.
A member of the ProgressNow Network, AMD serves as a strategic partner and digital communications hub. We provide innovative policy and advocacy solutions for the movement to secure a just, inclusive, and sustainable future for all Marylanders. Our work includes passing youth justice reforms, addressing climate change, enacting progressive tax reforms, supporting housing justice, ensuring equitable access to abortion care, and addressing health disparities.
We take an “on tap, not on top” approach to our work with coalitions, organizations, and advocates by providing tailored and scalable services to support their efforts — ranging from organizational support and strategic planning to digital content creation and owned media strategy. Advance Maryland is fiscally sponsored by ProgressNow. Learn more at advancemaryland.org.
About This Role
The Communications Associate is part of a small, collaborative four-person team that operates as a strategic communications hub for Maryland’s progressive movement. The Associate shares responsibility for the day-to-day execution of communications work — drafting copy, designing assets, producing video, publishing content, and reporting on results — that powers AMD’s campaigns and serves our coalition and fee-for-service partners.
This role requires someone who can work independently with strong creative execution skills, while also serving as a trusted, partner-facing representative of AMD with the organizations and coalitions we serve. The Associate will bring strategic input and creative ideas to the Multimedia Creative Director and broader team, contributing to a collaborative environment where every voice shapes the work.
We’re looking for someone with 2–4 years of communications experience who is ready to take ownership of meaningful work in a movement-oriented, learning-focused environment.
