GAIN Power seeks a Development Director or Fundraising Consultant/Firm (2025–2026 Cycle)
Contract Type: Month-to-month (with opportunity for long-term engagement)
Location: Remote (U.S.-based, preference for Washington, DC area)

Position Overview
We seek a Development Director or Consultant to lead and scale GAIN Power’s fundraising strategy for the 2025–2026 program cycle.
This role will:
Initially focus on sponsorship and fundraising for the Powerful IDEA Awards and the Democracy Expos (June 23–24, 2025)
Evolve into a broader role shaping long-term, sustainable funding strategies across membership, events, sponsorships, and donor programs
We’re looking for someone (or firm) with:
A familiarity with GAIN Power website features and our programs, including the GAIN Power career center and Jobs That Are Left, Powerful IDEA Awards, RootsCamp, career fairs, and related products (see rate sheet)
A strong commitment to progressive politics and values
Established relationships in the political donor and sponsor ecosystem
A passion for supporting talent and leadership development in our movement
The technical skills to build systems and write compelling fundraising communications
This is a fully remote position, and applicants from across the U.S. are encouraged to apply. Preference may be given to candidates based in the Washington, DC area.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Sponsorship Strategy
Lead fundraising and sponsorship efforts for June 2025 programs and beyond
Build and manage a pipeline of institutional partners, sponsors, and individual donors
Draft and refine fundraising materials — pitch decks, emails, proposals, and appeals
Customize messaging for a variety of audiences: PACs, 501(c)(3)/(c)(4)s, unions, socially conscious businesses, and individuals
Coordinate closely with GAIN Power leadership and advisors for outreach and follow-up
Develop communications / primarily email and personal call time plans
Systems & Donor Management
Setup and manage CRM or Airtable-based donor tracking systems
Create systems to assign tasks, schedule follow-ups, and track results in real-time
Analyze and report on outreach efforts and fundraising benchmarks
Strategic Development Planning
Recommend scalable revenue models for sponsorships, membership, and events
Contribute to multi-entity fundraising strategy across LLC, PAC, and nonprofit structures
Identify new funding streams and networks to support long-term program expansion
Ideal Qualifications
Demonstrated commitment to progressive values and political work
Fundraising or sponsorship experience in political, advocacy, or movement organizations
Strong institutional relationships within the progressive donor/sponsor ecosystem
Excellent writing and communication skills
Technical experience with fundraising databases, CRMs, Airtable, or other digital systems
Familiarity with multi-entity fundraising across 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), PAC, and LLC structures
A passion for elevating talent, staff, and leadership across the progressive movement
