Our Unwavering Commitment
GAIN Power expresses unwavering support for ActBlue amid the Trump administration's recent targeting of this essential pillar of progressive infrastructure. We stand unequivocally with ActBlue as a steadfast ally, loyal user, committed partner, and fierce defender of their critical mission in our democratic ecosystem. We're proud to use ActBlue as our daily fundraising tool and honored that ActBlue uses GAIN Power to recruit for their team in our career center.
The Current Situation
Yesterday, President Trump issued a memorandum directing the Justice Department to investigate ActBlue over unsubstantiated claims. This followed days of rumors that disrupted the progressive community, with many organizations rushing to protect donor data, fearing an imminent shutdown.
Why ActBlue Matters
ActBlue is a vital part of our democracy's infrastructure. It is a safe and secure fundraising platform that enables millions of Americans to participate at a grassroots level in the most fundamental pillar of our society: elections. ActBlue, bar none, leads the pack in transparency and fraud detection efforts.
Standing United
Nothing Donald Trump does or says will create a wedge between us and ActBlue. We are united as a blue wall, standing steadfast together against the oppressive abuse of power by this White House and its accomplices in Congress and the GOP. We call on all members of the GAIN Power community—campaign professionals, strategists, organizers, and advocates—to join us in this solidarity.
Addressing Baseless Claims
The so-called allegations by the GOP-controlled Congressional committees, first and now the Trump Administration, are entirely baseless. ActBlue abides strictly by all federal and state laws governing our work. Let's be clear about what this is: The Trump Administration and the GOP are targeting ActBlue as part of their brazen attack on democracy in America. Today's escalation by the White House is the further weaponization of the instruments of federal power by Donald Trump to shut out all political, electoral, and ideological opposition.
The Hypocrisy of Trump's Actions
Donald Trump's newfound concern about foreign election interference is laughable. He is the father of foreign election interference. This action by Donald Trump is a transparent political hit job. If he were concerned with foreign interference in our elections, he should look at himself in the mirror. Also missing from today's Presidential memorandum was any mention of WinRed, the for-profit money arm of the GOP that hides behind its tax status, fails to disclose its finances, and has a long track record of problematic reporting and compliance behavior.
To Our Community
To our community of Democratic and Progressive political professionals: With substantial resources, legal expertise, and robust security protocols, ActBlue is prepared to defend its critical services. Regina Wallace-Jones, the CEO and President of ActBlue, noted that they are "ready for the fight" and "prepared to defend the rights of Americans to participate in our democracy." We have complete confidence in her leadership during this challenging time. Her background as both a tech executive and former mayor of East Palo Alto brings precisely the combination of technical expertise and public service commitment needed now. We must collectively support them in this fight.
How We Respond
While vigilance is necessary, panic serves the administration's goals. GAIN Power encourages everyone to:
Continue using ActBlue for your campaigns and organizations
Share accurate information with your networks
Support ActBlue publicly through statements and social media
Stand united against these attacks on our democratic infrastructure
Lessons from This Week
The events of this week revealed both our vulnerability and strength. When rumors began circulating, we saw our community spring into action through interconnected networks, demonstrating resilience while exposing how disinformation can disrupt our work.
Moving Forward Together
This is a critical moment for the GAIN Power community to demonstrate unity. The administration's "distraction and exhaustion" strategy only works if we allow it. ActBlue's $16 billion impact makes it a target not because of legitimate concerns, but as a politically motivated attempt to handicap progressive infrastructure.
In Solidarity
Let's channel our collective energy into strengthening our systems rather than panicking. Our organizing muscles remain strong—now, we must use those same networks to spread strategic responses and accurate information. Together, the GAIN Power community can be a powerful voice defending our shared democratic values.
In solidarity, Amy Pritchard, Founder & Steph Noguera, Executive Director
If workers want actual representation, they shouldn't run to the Democrats. And let's talk about their current tactics and messaging to gain support for Democrats... I wrote about the text messages I get from ActBlue, and I know I'm not alone in questioning them: https://open.substack.com/pub/candidetoday/p/my-issue-with-actblue?r=91pkw&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
