The West Virginia Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Although West Virginia was historically one of the most Democratic-voting states in the nation, the party has rapidly lost ground there in the 21st century.
The West Virginia Democratic Party (WVDP) is hiring a full-time, on-site Executive Director based in Charleston, West Virginia. This senior leadership role serves as the Chief of Staff to the Executive Committee, reporting directly to the State Party Chair, and focuses on building organizational infrastructure and winning
elections.
Overview
Salary: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 yearly, plus benefits (commensurate with experience).
Job Type: Full-time, indefinite duration.
Location: Charleston, WV (On-site).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop long-term strategies, frameworks, and financial plans to achieve party goals alongside the State Party Chair.
Operations & Finance: Manage day-to-day operations and expand the party’s fundraising capacity.
Communications: Lead internal and external messaging, public relations, and branding to support elected officials and county parties.
Coalition Building: Serve as a public representative to strengthen relationships with county committees, community groups, and political allies.
Requirements & Qualifications
Core Skills: Strong project management, problem-solving abilities, sound judgment, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience: Background in political campaigns, party organizations, fundraising, communications, voter engagement, or organizational leadership.
